Cabinet clears Phase-II of Ahemdabad Metro Rail Project

New Delhi, Feb 19 The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved implementation of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II. The project comprises two corridors of with a total length of 28.254 km: Corridor 1 from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir and Corridor 2 from GNLU to GIFT City. The project will provide the much-needed additional public transport infrastructure to Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The second phase of metro rail project is aimed at streamlining the urban transportation system in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar -- which is stressed due to intensive developments, increase in the number of private vehicles and heavy construction in the city.
