NSW Coroner praises police and calls for better prisoner rehabilitation after inquest into fatal shooting at Nowra

ABC

The New South Wales Deputy Coroner has commended police for their heroism in a fatal shooting on the South Coast two years ago, but also called for improved offender rehabilitation. Magistrate Erin Kennedy praised the police for their response, which she said was "beyond textbook". Bodycam footage from the officers captured Mr Walker, armed with a large knife, taunting officers and screaming, "Shoot me, you f*****g dogs" as he moved towards another person on the street. "To support police efforts, by reducing the likelihood of violent confrontations and improving overall public safety," she said.
