Jaroslav Halak signs one-year extension, preserving Bruins’ elite goalie tandem

New York Times

The rumor, before the world turned upside down, was that unrestricted free agent Jaroslav Halak wanted to look at better options than the one-year concept the Bruins were considering. If the Bruins exceed the 2020-21 cap by some or all of Halak’s bonus, they would carry an overage in 2021-22. As a first-year player with the Bruins, Halak posted a.936 five-on-five save percentage in 40 appearances, fourth-highest in the league among goalies with 1,500 or more minutes, according to Natural Stat Trick. This season, Halak’s five-on-five number had dipped to.924, still better than the standards set by Jordan Binnington, Carter Hart and Carey Price.
