ASER 2023 exposes chinks in Odisha govt's education system

JAN. 19: The recently-published Annual Status of Education Report 2023 has exposed the feebleness in Odisha’s government’s education system. The ASER brought to light that around 64 per cent of students in the 14 to 18 years age group in Sambalpur district don’t know the division. Only 55.5 per cent students in the age group are able to read the texts of Class II The report also revealed that only 35.9 per cent students are able to do division in mathematics. According to them, the Covid-19-induced lockdown, lack of coordination among the teachers and the students are some of the main reasons behind the poor educational standards of the students. Moreover, lack of coordination between students and the teachers is also one of the main reasons behind the poor standard of students,” said Sanjay Bohidar, a local guardian.
