Not Bangladeshis, Nigerians top the list of foreigners India deported in FY24 – Firstpost

Despite a slight rise seen in FY 2024 figures, the total number of deportations between 2014 and 2024 remained below 15,000. On the other hand, nearly 30,000 people were deported from India between 2010 and 2013 alone The number of foreigners deported from India saw a rise in the Financial Year 2024, according to an analysis by Moneycontrol, based on data from the Ministry of Home Affairs. More deportations seen in the previous decade The number of deportations has significantly gone down since 2014, the year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in the centre. Under Section 7, the Bill grants the Central government broad authority over foreign nationals, including: - Requiring foreigners to enter and exit India only through designated routes, ports, or places under specific conditions.
