QS World Rankings 2019: 6 Indian institutions under top 300, IIT Bombay secures the top rank

It also quantifies top universities in the world based upon following parameters: Research and development Teaching and pedagogy skills Employability and market skills Internationalism and global presence Forty percent weightage to institution's stature. IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IISc Bengaluru, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee among universities like Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University in Indian category. The list is as follows: Rank 1: Massachusetts Institute of Technology Rank 2: Stanford University Rank 3: Harvard University Rank 4: California Institute of Technology Rank 5: University of Oxford Placement and change over the years : IIT Bombay 17 ranks up 162 IISc Bengaluru 20 ranks up 170 IIT Delhi 3 ranks down 172 IIT Kanpur 10 ranks up 283 IIT Kharagpur No change 295 IIT Roorkee 49 ranks up 281 IIT Guwahati 29 ranks up 472 Performance of Indian universities: Only two Indian universities have featured in QS rankings 2019 Jawaharlal Nehru University: 51-100 bracket in history Delhi University : 151-200 bracket in history category In English, both JNU and DU have featured in 151-200 rank bracket. Overall, 20 extra Indian institutions have been included in this year's ranking, six more than in 2017 that had a list of the world's 959 top universities, as per QS ranking website.
