No discrepancy in VVPAT slips in Maharashtra polls: Election Commission
India TodayThe Election Commission of India has confirmed that no discrepancies were found during the mandatory counting of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail slips in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly elections. The VVPAT slip counting process, mandated by the ECI, involved selecting five polling stations from each assembly constituency through a lottery system. According to the reports received from all 36 District Election Officers in Maharashtra, the candidate-wise number of votes recorded in the Electronic Voting Machines matched perfectly with the VVPAT slips in all constituencies. The ECI reiterated that the counting of VVPAT slips is a crucial step in the election process and must be completed before declaring the winning candidates.
