It's been two years since Victoria introduced assisted dying laws, so how well are they working?
ABCSouth Australia is on track to become the fourth state in Australia to legalise assisted dying. He told ABC RN's Big Ideas that, initially, voluntary assisted dying information was disseminated slowly and difficult for patients to access. With the introduction of "voluntary assisted dying navigators" in most hospitals now, however, he said patients have more ready access to information. The patient's perspective Ron Poole believed that information about voluntary assisted dying should be easier to access. "When my physician said to me, 'You've come into the six-month window, you can go ahead and apply for the assisted dying', that's what I did."
