Since his election, Milei has said he intended to achieve this by restructuring debt the central bank holds with private banks through “a market solution, without infringing on rights”. ‘Dollarisation’ On the campaign trail, Milei had vowed to ditch the peso in favour of the US dollar, but has since said “dollarisation” may have to wait about a year until the economy strengthens.
