In the fourth quarter of 2012, Android had a 70.1 percent share as opposed to 21 percent by iOS and 8.9 percent by other operating systems. For tablets, IDC’s scores for the year of 2012 show iOS in the lead with a market share of 53.8 percent as opposed to 42.7 percent for Android and 3.5 percent for others. Despite the fact that there’s some ambiguity regarding the numbers for the market share in the US, when it comes to the worldwide market share, Android seems to be leagues ahead of iOS.
