Shoaib Bashir gets India visa but England continue criticism for delay
Hindustan TimesShoaib Bashir has received his visa and he will link up with the England squad in India by the end of this weekend, announced the England and Wales Cricket Board on Wednesday evening. The visa delay of the 20-year-old cricketer whose family is of Pakistani heritage snowballed into a big issue after a British Government spokesperson demanded "fair" treatment for the youngster following England captain Ben Stokes' "frustration" on the matter. "When I first found the news out in Abu Dhabi, I did say we shouldn't fly until Bash gets his visa," Stokes said in the pre-match press conference on Wednesday. "We have previously raised the issues British citizens with Pakistani heritage experience applying for visas with the Indian High Commission in London," he said.India have, so far, not commented on the matter.
