It follows a string of 'XL Bully' attacks despite the new ban A man and woman have been arrested after a boy was left with 'serious head injuries' after being mauled by an 'XL Bully' attack in the communal area of a nearby block of flats. The attack occurred in Bootle, Merseyside, on Saturday February 10 where the boy, 8, was mauled by the dog while playing outside near Wadham Road An XL Bully dog. Following the attack, Merseyside Police seized the dog which is believed to be an XL Bully Wadham Road in Bootle where an 8-year-old boy was attacked by a dog, believed to be an XL Bully, yesterday Detective Inspector Gary Stratton, in a statement, said: 'This was a horrific attack which has left a young child requiring emergency surgery for injuries to his head. Merseyside Police have arrested a woman, 49, and a man, 30, on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury The woman - who wished to remain anonymous - claims the unleashed XL Bully 'launched itself on the pram' carrying her one-year-old daughter, tipping it over and biting the child.
