India TodayBJP’s Tamil Nadu state president K Annamalai accused the state police of deliberately revealing the identity of the girl who was sexually assaulted inside the Anna University campus a day before Christmas Eve. He tore into the state police and the ruling party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for making public the details of not just the victim’s identity, but also her residential address, through the FIR copy. In a post on X, he wrote, “This heinous and imprudent act of the Tamil Nadu police is a blatant breach of the rights of the victim.” He called it a “detestable act” and condemned the state police for their “willful negligence”. He alleged it was “a concerted effort” by the state police and the ruling party “to malign the victim’s character to salvage the state’s collapsed maintenance of law and order.” The Tamil Nadu BJP chief also added that he had written to the National Commission of Women chairperson to take cognisance of this matter and intervene.
