Orange alert for seven districts in Kerala on December 1
The HinduThe State is likely to receive heavy rain on Sunday triggered by the effects of the cyclonic storm ‘Fengal’ which formed in the Bay of Bengal after days of uncertainty. The system has been moving slowly westwards and is expected to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram as a cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph by Saturday evening. An orange alert warning of very heavy rain has been issued for seven districts – Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad – on Sunday and yellow alert for remaining seven districts warning of isolated heavy rain. Five districts from Malappuram to Kasaragod are also put on orange alert on Monday and seven districts from Pathanamthitta to Palakkad on yellow alert.
