Centre bowed to people: MK Stalin on tungsten mineral block auction cancellation
India TodayDays after the Centre decided to annul the auction of Nayakkarpatti tungsten mineral block in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister MK Stalin claimed vindication and said that the union government bowed before the people of the state, following major protests. The main reason for Tunsg mining coming up is due to an amendment passed in Parliament stating that important mineral mining can be auctioned by the Union Government without acquiring permission from the state government," Stalin pointed out. Stalin said that the Tamil Nadu government wrote multiple letters to the Centre opposing tungsten mining. Chief Minister Stalin further asserted that the Union Government should refrain from issuing mining auction notifications without the state government's consent.
