But the police suspected from the beginning that the documents did not reveal the man's true identity, Bautista said, adding that the Spanish Civil Guard would not confirm officially the identity of the dead man. The Spanish government has not confirmed the identity of the man shot dead in Alicante, and points at the ongoing investigation by the Spanish Civil Guard.
