Yemaya Festival finally given the go-ahead despite community concern about drug use

ABC

Organisers have been given the go-ahead to hold a music and arts festival north of Bendigo next month, but community concern about potential drug use at the event persists. Community concern about 'type' of people attending festival Kim Hanlon, from the Inglewood Neighbourhood House, agreed that views were split. "There is one side of the community who are perhaps business owners who see this swarm of strange-looking people that come hurtling through their town, buying up every block of ice and every piece of alcohol they can lay their hands to, as a really good thing," she said. "We sort of get a little bit disappointed when it's simplified and dumbed-down to a 'dance party or a 'music event'."
