No court relief in plea against pause on Maharashtra minister's conviction in cheating case

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to grant an interim pause on the Nashik sessions court's order, which had put a hold on the conviction and sentence of Maharashtra Agriculture Minister and NCP leader Manikrao Kokate in a 1995 cheating case. The court was hearing a revision petition and writ petitions filed by two Nashik residents, who wanted the stay granted by the sessions court to be overturned. He had also approached the Nashik sessions court, alleging that Kokate had filed false affidavits before the returning officer during the election. The second petitioner, Anjali Ashutosh Rathod, the daughter of a former minister, had also filed an application before the Nashik court, seeking to be heard in the case.
