Live MintThe Supreme Court on Thursday rebuked the Centre for not opening doors to the protesting farmers and consider their genuine grievances. SC ask Centre to respond to fresh plea The bench also asked the Centre to respond to a fresh plea filed on behalf of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The plea seeks the Union government’s implementation of the proposal made to protesting farmers in 2021, following the repeal of the farm laws, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price on crops. Petitioner in-person Guninder Kaur Gill, who filed the fresh plea on behalf of Dallewal, was asked not to adopt a confrontational approach as the court had constituted a high-powered committee headed by retired high court judge to deal with various such issues. Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been observing an indefinite hunger strike at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since November 26, demanding that the Centre address the farmers' various demands.
