Pvt Schools on DDA Land Cannot Hike Fee Without Govt Approval: SC

The Supreme Court has upheld the Delhi High Court verdict barring private schools built on land allotted by the Delhi Development Authority from hiking fees without government permission. The move comes as a set back to over 400 private unaided schools in Delhi, who can no longer hike their fees without approval from the Delhi government, if the school is erected on public land. The Supreme Court order comes at a time when private schools are set to announce the new fee structure for nursery admissions that are around the corner. According to an agreement between the schools and the Delhi Development Authority and the Land and Development department, the state government’s Directorate of Education needs to sign off on moves to enhance fee structure.
