Global cancer explosion: Experts discover nations where you're most likely to die of the disease - it doesn't look good for the UK

The UK has been warned to brace for an explosion in cancer deaths, with numbers lost to the disease set to soar by more than 50 per cent over the next two decades. The new figures reveal that, despite a record £192billion spent on the NHS this year, the UK has one of the worst cancer mortality rates globally, coming 123rd out of 185 nations. The Australian researchers said over the next 25 years, UK cancer deaths will rise from 181,807 annually to 279,004 in 2050 — an increase of 53.5 per cent. Despite currently seeing better cancer outcomes than the UK, America is predicted to see an even greater rise, from 605,761 deaths a year to 974,831 in 2050 — a 60.9 per cent surge. Brits have one of the worst cancer mortality rates globally — surpassing the US and Australia — but fare better than the French, Portuguese and Kiwis, the research showed Your browser does not support iframes.
