
We need to integrate modern science with traditional Indian knowledge, says IITD director
The Hindu“Educational institutions should strive to integrate modern science with Indian traditional knowledge,” Venkappaiah Desai, director, Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad, said in Belagavi on Friday. “There is a need to evolve a comprehensive system of education where students are exposed to the modern developments while staying in touch with the roots of traditional Indian knowledge. He was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the STEAM H Training and Research Centre organized in collaboration with Naganur Rudrakshi Mutt, Siddarameshwara Educational Institute and Transdisciplinary Learning Solution. Allama Prabhu Mahaswami, seer of the Naganur Rudrakshi Mutt, said he decided to start this research centre for the poor and talented students who were deprived of such opportunities elsewhere.
