Premier League clubs spent £272MILLION on agents' fees in 2021-22

Football's post-Covid reset would appear to be a fast fading concept after figures released on Thursday revealed payments made to agents by Premier League clubs have reached record levels. For huge chunks of that year, Premier League games were being played behind closed doors due to Covid but clubs like Manchester City, United and Chelsea funnelled £35m, £29m and £28m the way of players' representatives. Manchester City completed the British record signing of Jack Grealish for £100m from Villa City have usurped Chelsea as the league's biggest spenders on agent fees, spending over £35m thanks in large part to the British record £100m signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa last summer. The aggregate figure represents only a marginal rise on the £272.2m recorded last year but the number continues to trend upwards despite some Premier League wrestling with debt-related problems.
