Victorian Government rules out East West Link revival

The Victorian Government is adamant it will not revive Melbourne's East West Link, even though its own infrastructure advisers have listed the road project in a discussion paper for a 30-year blueprint. Treasurer Tim Pallas said the paper, titled All Things Considered, did not list the East West Link as a priority project and the road was not on the Government's agenda. The East West Link was to be an 18-kilometre cross-city road connecting the Eastern Freeway at Hoddle Street to CityLink, the Port of Melbourne precinct and on to the Western Ring Road at Sunshine West. Infrastructure Victoria chief executive Michel Masson said the link was one of many options to address city congestion and a solution to the pinch point might result in an entirely different design to the former Napthine government's East West Link.
