Accompanying her are a diverse collection of women and non-binary figures, including disabled and trans model Aaron Philip, queer skateboarder Lacey Baker, activist Mari Copeny and Cyrus’s own mother Tish. Billboard Magazine has confirmed that Cyrus conceptualised the clip’s hyper-stylised visuals alongside director Alexandre Moors, who previously directed the Kanye West short film Cruel Summer and videos for Kendrick Lamar and Lorde. ‘Mother’s Daughter’ is the latest single from the recent She Is Coming, the first EP in a three-part series from Cyrus that will be released throughout 2019.
