Stating that Aadhaar was the biggest transformation to verify the identity of any individual, Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said that the government is planning to link the Aadhaar with driving licence soon. The moment one tries to get issued duplicate licence using a different identity, the system will immediately say the person is already having a licence,” he said. “The scheme was started in 2011 with name National Optical Fibre Network and in three years, the previous government had laid down only 358 kilometres optical fibre while in the last four years, we have laid down optical fibre in three lakh kilometres, linking one lakh gram panchayats.
