
Mazhayoram project: DYFI takes to well recharging
Deccan ChronicleKANNUR: The Democratic Youth Federation of India is showing an example of water conservation with their ‘Mazhayoram water Conservation project’ in Kannur. The project, launched by the Karivelloor North Village unit of the DYFI, has already covered nearly 250 houses in the area, and they are planning to extend the project further. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, DYFI Payyannur Block Committee secretary A. V. Ranjith said that they are planning to cover 300 more houses as part of the project in Payyannur region. Ahead of the implementation, the DYFI workers conducted a survey and launched door-to-door campaign to create awareness about water conservation and well recharging system. Well-recharging concept is getting good response in Kannur with the district panchayat including well recharging project as part of MGNREG scheme and Kannur district administration making it mandatory for all houses above 100 sq.metre to have the facility for getting occupancy certificate.
