Kolkata's popular cab app to power bus rides: Why commuters will be pleased
India TodayThe West Bengal government plans to transform a web application, designed by its information and technology department as a cab aggregator, into a one-stop solution for multiple purposes. The Yatri Sathi app was launched a few years ago as a solution to public woes while booking cabs and to curb the market dominance of private players. Bengal inspector general of police Sukesh Kumar Jain, who is one of the officers overseeing the Yatri Sathi project, said more services will be made available through the app in due course. Yatri Sathi plans to enhance its platform with real-time bus tracking, journey planning and integrated multi-modal transport solutions. The vision is to evolve Yatri Sathi into a citizen-friendly app that not only supports public transport but also offers a range of citizen services across Bengal, read a press statement issued by the government.
