Congress flays decision of govt. to introduce pre-paid meter

The Hindu

Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has questioned the recent decision of the AINRC-BJP government to introduce pre-paid meter for power consumption in the Union Territory. The Congress party will not allow the government to introduce pre-paid meter and to privatise the department,” Mr. Narayanasamy said, addressing a press conference here on Sunday. Accusing the government of “deceiving” the people, the Congress leader said the Chief Minister had given an assurance not to enforce a new power tariff, but the contrary had happened in the beginning of the year itself. Reiterating the charge of corruption against the government, the former Chief Minister says the government has given permission to start distilleries.
