Photo: Matthias Dörfelt With most vending machines you're lucky to get stale Doritos for your quarters, but LA-based artist Matthias Dörfelt has designed a new automat that will create a unique piece of artwork for $3. Dörfelt's machine uses C++ and PaperJS to create a sheet full of unique, seemingly hand drawn faces by altering a few basic parameters like the face's size, shape, and features while adding aesthetic flourishes like colored eyes. The vending machine builds on Dörfelt's prior work developing the algorithm that generates the faces and a series of flip books that feature simple stories conjured from a similar codebase.
