Bob Stoops on Oklahoma in SEC, Brent Venables and coaching in XFL again: Q&A

ARLINGTON, Texas — It’s been more than five years since Bob Stoops retired as Oklahoma’s head coach, but he’s done quite a bit of coaching since then. He stepped in as Oklahoma’s interim head coach for a bowl game against Oregon in 2021 after Lincoln Riley left for USC. With training camp in the books and the league’s third go-around finally here, Stoops spoke with The Athletic about the XFL, the familiar names on his staff, the future of Oklahoma football in the SEC, his own future and more. They’ve been around and done a great job promoting it, and the rest of it, all our leadership group around it, they’ve done a great job putting it all together.
