DPI seeks report on unauthorized hostels, tutorials run by private schools

In the wake of the death of two students due to food poisoning in a hostel of a private school in Mandya district recently, the Commissioner of Public Instruction has ordered all Deputy Directors of Public Instruction to inspect and submit a report on unauthorised hostels and tutorials being run by private schools in their limits. “In some districts, it has been observed that some private school managements are illegally running hostels and tutorials on school premises after obtaining permission to run schools. Immediately check the unauthorised hostels and tutorials after obtaining permission to run schools and submit a report with the necessary documents,” said K.V. Recently, two students from Meghalaya died after consuming food in the hostel, and more than 40 students fell ill,at a private school in T. Kagepura village of Malavalli taluk, Mandya district.
