MLC rules out privatisation of Mysugar

The Hindu

Ruling out the possibility of privatisation of Mysugar, Congress MLC Dinesh Gooligowda said the State government was committed to ensuring its functioning and protecting the interests of the Mandya-based sugar factory and farmers. In a statement here, Mr. Gooligowda dismissed the misinformation about the possible closure of the factory and sought to reassure the farmers that the sugar factory will continue to be run by the government. This year too, the government-owned sugar factory had crushed over 2.01 lakh tonnes of sugarcane supplied by about 3,400 farmers. Mr. Gooligowda also said the Congress government had waived off electricity bill dues, amounting to a total of ₹52.25 crore that had been kept pending for the last 20 years.
