IMD predicts hot and humid weather in parts of Andhra Pradesh

More than five stations in Andhra Pradesh recorded a maximum temperature of more than 41 degree Celsius on Saturday, while the India Meteorological Department forecast a hot and humid weather at isolated places in North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday as well. The maximum temperatures were likely to be above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius across the two regions until March 19, and in the region of Rayalaseema until March 17. On Saturday, Gospadu in Nandyal and Ulindakonda in Kurnool districts sizzled at 41.8 degree Celsius, followed by Darimadugu in Prakasam district and Tummikapalli in Vizianagaram that recorded 41.7 degree Celsius, Kothavalasa in Vizianagaram district and Madduru in Kadapa district, as per information from the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority. Nineteen mandals in the State recorded ‘severe heatwave’ on Saturday, while 54 recorded ‘heatwave’.
