Using your phone too much can lead to 'trigger finger': What is it?
India TodayIn the era of digitisation, where smartphones, tablets and touch screens reign supreme, our daily routines have been profoundly reshaped. Considered to be one of the most common causes of hand pain, trigger finger is believed to have affected around 2 per cent of the world's general population. Physiotherapist Dr Sunil Rajpal, from Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, told IndiaToday.in, "The continuous tapping and scrolling on touchscreens can place excessive stress and strain on the finger tendons, leading to inflammation and triggering this condition." Consequently, when you flex your finger or thumb, this can cause the inflamed tendon to move through a narrowed sheath, resulting in a snapping or popping sensation. Additionally, ergonomic accessories and posture awareness are crucial in mitigating the risk associated with technology-induced trigger finger," suggested Dr Sunil Rajpal.
