RJD promises cash transfer scheme for women in Bihar
The HinduRashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday announced that his party would launch a cash transfer scheme for women, if it wins the Assembly election due next year. In neighbouring Jharkhand, the Chief Minister’s Maiya Samman Yojana — a cash transfer scheme for women — is said to have helped the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha -led Hemant Soren government retain power. He said the cash transfer scheme would be designed with complementary support such as financial literacy training, which would further promote women empowerment and long-term economic independence. Stating that he had fulfilled every promise during his tenure, Mr. Yadav said: “This scheme will be a direct and effective step towards reducing poverty, promoting gender equality and investing in the social and economic potential of marginalised citizens.” Women vote bank Cash transfer schemes for women have substantially helped political parties in the recent Assembly elections.
