Border Dispute: Assam, Mizoram Agree To Maintain Peace & Harmony Post Centre’s Intervention
ABP NewsGuwahati/Aizawl: In the wake of the escalating tension post the border clashes between both sides, Assam and Mizoram have agreed to maintain peace in inter-state border areas and welcomed deployment of neutral force by the Central government in this regard. “For this purpose, both the states shall not send their respective Forest and Police forces for patrolling, domination, enforcement or for fresh deployment to any of the areas where confrontation and conflict has taken has taken place between the Police forces of the two states during recent times,” the governments of Assam and Mizoram said in a joint statement. The joint statement further said the representatives of the governments of Assam and Mizoram agree to take all necessary measures to promote, preserve and maintain peace and harmony amongst the people living in Assam and Mizoram, particularly in the border areas. The governments of Assam and Mizoram welcomed and agreed to carry forward the initiatives taken by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the chief ministers of both states to remove tensions prevailing around the inter-state border areas and to find lasting solutions to the disputes through discussions.
