The return of Ivy League football as the FCS gets back to a unified fall schedule is yet another part of the sport that was gone last year and back now. “If they weren’t able to come back and play this year, there would have been no closure to their athletic careers,” Surace said. “Long-term, that can be really challenging and difficult.” Other Ivy League programs dealt with similar circumstances, and Columbia head coach Al Bagnoli said one of the hardest parts of the offseason has been getting those fifth-year seniors back up to speed with a strength coach and a structured environment. “It’s been eons since we’ve actually done football,” Bagnoli said at Ivy League media day.
