Opinion | Development and politics need to be key focus areas
Live MintThere are two key divisions that need to be explored when we look at Jammu and Kashmir following the reorganization: one is development, the other is politics. Now as for development, if the Indian corporate sector and the big players’ mindset has actually been altered by the abrogation of Article 370, then they need to be able to make their way to Kashmir to come and invest here. So when private sector investment and the central government’s infrastructure investments are also rolled out, it is then that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s vision of making Kashmir the “dream destination” of tourism will be realised. If the government is planning massive infrastructure programmes, social and cultural development, a lot of employment will be generated and in due course, the sense of alienation among the people will also be addressed.
