Liverpool's situation 'may deteriorate before it improves', says Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher insists Liverpool's current plight may get worse before it gets better after the Reds slumped to a shock defeat against Burnley on Thursday night. After five league games without a win, Jurgen Klopp's side now sit six points off league leaders Manchester United and former Reds centre back Carragher pinpointed a number of different reasons as to why the champions have suffered such a drastic drop in form. Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool's situation could actually get worse before it improves The champions have not won in five league games and are now six points off Manchester Utd The Reds have so far opted not to invest in the January transfer window despite missing centre backs Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez due to long-term injuries - and Carragher has been left shocked by the club's failure to bring in a replacement. Virgil van Dijk's injury against Everton in October has not resulted in a centre back coming in 'Frankly, it is preposterous that three months on and with the transfer window now open, Klopp felt compelled to use Jordan Henderson in the position against Manchester United.
