Residents demand repairs to dilapidated water tank, well in Ayilappettai

Residents of Ayilapettai village in Kodiyalam panchayat, under the Andhanallur Union in Tiruchi district, have appealed to the district administration to address safety risks posed by a long-abandoned overhead water tank and a defunct well in the area. Ayalai Siva Suriyan, district secretary of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association, highlighted the deteriorated state of the overhead water tank, which was constructed decades ago and had been out of use for over 10 years. The unused well near the Markandeyan temple, which once supplied water to the tank, was also in a dilapidated condition. Residents urged the authorities to dismantle the overhead water tank and seal the well to prevent accidents.
