Lukáš Dostál looks solid, but the Anaheim Ducks are letting him down — sound familiar?
New York TimesANAHEIM, Calif. — Now that he has control of the Anaheim Ducks’ net, at least for the time being, Lukáš Dostál is living out the same thing John Gibson experienced for years as the Ducks’ No. Two days after allowing his team to steal a point it didn’t deserve in Colorado, Dostál kept the Ducks in the game on Sunday against Los Angeles, even as the Kings took control and skewed the shot total decidedly in their favor. The game stayed scoreless into the third period, even as Dostál’s mates failed to test his Kings counterpart David Rittich, much less dent him. “We didn’t skate,” said Ducks coach Greg Cronin, increasingly fuming as each question about his team’s offensive ineptitude came his way. But if the disjointed Ducks hope to play meaningful games in the second half of the season, they’ve got to stop putting their chances of winning solely on the backs of their netminders.
