Four dogs poisoned to death in Madurai; police register case
The HinduFollowing the suspicious death of four dogs, one adult and three puppies, at Surveyor Colony in Madurai on Thursday, the Thiruppalai police have booked a case against perpetrators. Ms. Murugeswari said that as the female dog which gave birth to small ones recently was found to be a threat to the goats which were raised by one of the residents, the alleged person might have poisoned the dogs. Following the complaint with the Thiruppalai police, they booked the person under sections 325 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 11 by using the method of strychnine injections in the heart or in any other unnecessarily cruel manner) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Ms. Murugeswari said the police while investigating the case should also look into the sale of poison which the miscreants used for feeding the dogs with an intention to kill them.
