How filming naked in a glass sphere for weeks was good for ‘Sandman’s’ Tom Sturridge

“I figured out various yogic positions that would allow everyone else to not feel ridiculous,” Tom Sturridge says of filming “The Sandman” scenes in which he’s trapped naked inside a glass sphere. As the star of Netflix’s “The Sandman,” an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic book series, Sturridge stepped into seemingly uncastable shoes as the lean, angst-ridden embodiment of dreams, Lord Morpheus. What’s beautiful about the story of “Sandman” is also the family he’s a part of, the Endless. Tom Sturridge as Dream in “The Sandman.” In the first parts of “Sandman,” you had to spend much of your time imprisoned in a glass sphere.
