There was an expectation that Roy could be given a Rajya Sabha entry from a BJP ruled state amid growing murmurs about a rift with state president Dilip Ghosh. "West Bengal elections are due in March-April next year and it is my bounden duty to ensure BJP's victory under the leadership of state president Dilip Ghosh and others," Roy said, thanking JP Nadda, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
