Bengal: BJP alleges foul play over party worker's death in police custody
India TodayThe death of a 24-year-old political worker in West Bengal has triggered a slew of allegations against the state police. Describing Roy's death as "cold-blooded murder", the BJP questioned why a postmortem was conducted "hurriedly at night within three hours of his death". Accusing the West Bengal police of torturing Roy in custody, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh asked, "We cannot even imagine this kind of police atrocities. Please do not pay heed to the rumours — West Bengal Police September 3, 2020 "I have strong doubt that post-mortem has not been done lawfully and we are not ready to accept the illegally prepared PM report," Gita Roy, mother of the deceased wrote in a letter to the police. While police have termed it a case of suicide, Bengal BJP has alleged foul play, demanding a CBI probe in the case.
