Senate pulls all-nighter with junk food, naps in marathon vote-a-rama for $740B reconciliation bill

Daily Mail

Senators have been inside the US Capitol all night voting on dozens of amendments to Democrats' $740 billion climate change and healthcare spending bill, in a lengthy process known as a vote-a-rama. All 50 Senate Democrats also voted against an amendment by Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio that would have cracked down on the troubling crime wave plaguing US cities. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is now leading Democrats through the hours-long vote-a-rama process after finally reaching a deal on a budget bill Meanwhile Republicans have attempted to undercut its likely passage with a series of amendments on the border, crime and the IRS The GOP is hoping to pin down vulnerable Democrats into uncomfortable positions by making them vote down proposals on hot-button issues. Republican Senator John Kennedy was reportedly spotted eating a Slim Jim, and his fellow GOPer Mike Lee told the outlet that he's relying on beef jerky and 'lots of Red Bull.'
