Internal emails reveal Liberal Party scramble before local council debacle

As the blame game over the Liberal Party local council debacle continues, internal emails have revealed the last-minute scramble to endorse more than 160 candidates before the party missed a critical deadline. The Liberal Party head office failed to submit the candidate nomination forms by noon on Wednesday August 14, leading to 140 candidates across 16 councils missing out on running. Ten Liberals push to run as independents NSW Liberal Party president Don Harwin oversaw the candidate selection process. One member wrote to Mr Harwin, saying he was "extremely disappointed not to be endorsed as a Liberal candidate", while others claimed there was a lack of transparency, alleging an "improper process".
