Kangana wants Akhtar's plaint clubbed with her own; Bombay High Court reserves order

The Bombay High Court has deferred its decision on the petition filed by actor Kangana Ranaut, requesting that Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar's defamation complaint against her be simultaneously tried with her complaint against him, as both are cross-complaints. Siddiquee informed the court that Ranaut's complaint was filed 10 months after Akhtar's. Akhtar's complaint is based on a television interview Ranaut gave in 2020 following actor Sushant Singh Rajput's alleged suicide. Additionally, he highlighted that Ranaut's complaint is based on the 2016 meeting, meaning she filed her complaint more than five-and-a-half years after the incident.
