NT vaccine mandate deadline has business looking for clarity — and 'loopholes' — while public service impact still unclear

ABC

The Northern Territory Chief Minister has told businesses not to look for loopholes around an impending coronavirus vaccine mandate, after the Chief Health Officer issued a series of last-minute changes to the rules. Key points: The NT's wide-ranging coronavirus vaccine mandate applies from midnight tonight The CHO has shut down a Darwin gym's plan to separate out "vulnerable" customers The impact on frontline agencies remains unclear The NT's mandate requiring all workers in public-facing roles or those likely to come into contact with a vulnerable person to have had their first COVID-19 vaccine takes effect from midnight tonight. Chief Minister Michael Gunner said workers must "assume" people are vulnerable. "Of course, there's some businesses that have different circumstances that are finding it a little more challenging," the chamber's chief operating officer Nicole Walsh told ABC Radio Darwin. "There's probably in smaller agencies about 12 people on average who aren't going to be vaccinated, in the larger agencies there's going to be more," Community and Public Sector Union NT regional secretary Kay Densley said.
